Mary Louise Ogden, age 89 of Fort Myers, Florida, formerly Monroe, died on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 in Fort Myers. She was born on February 27, 1921, in Monroe, the daughter of Fred Emil and Lena (Discher) Meythaler. She was a 1939 graduate of Monroe High School and a 1943 graduate of the University of Wisconsin. Mary served as a W.A.C. from 1943 - 1946, being stationed in Ft. Des Moines, IA and Indiantown Gap, PA, achieving the rank of 2nd LT. She was a school teacher, primarily in Barstow and Vista, CA, from 1946 to 1977.
Mary and Lawson Ogden were married on August 17, 1951 in Los Angeles, CA. Mary and Lawson moved to the Monroe area in 1978 until 1983 when they relocated to their retirement home at Lake Fairways Country Club, Fort Myers, FL. She was an avid golfer, also enjoying crafts, reading and traveling.
She is survived by her husband, Lawson, of Fort Myers, FL; son, Timothy; a grandson; also nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; brothers, Robert and Fredrick Meythaler.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 8, 2010, at the Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe. Officiating will be Rev. Gretchen Sylvester of St. John's United Church of Christ. The Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home is serving the family.
