Marjorie M. Kraut, 89, of Pecatonica, Ill., died at 2:25 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, in Rockford Memorial Hospital. She was born March 22, 1920, in Freeport, Ill., the daughter of Martin L. and Stella (Jury) Kortemeier. She married Leo W. Kraut Oct. 7, 1939, in Freeport. He predeceased her April 8, 2002. Marjorie was a cafeteria cook in the Pecatonica School District for 30 years. Her whole life revolved around her family, showing each member unconditional love.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Vernell) Sarver, Pecatonica, and Janet (Gary) Buholzer, Montello, Wis.; son, Leon Kraut, Pecatonica; grandchildren, Penny (Russell) Wiegert, Winnebago, Ill., Sarah (Rubin) Rogin, Forreston, Ill., Marla (Tim) Petit, Monroe, Patricia (Brian) Hammons, Orangeville, Ill., Kimberly (Paul) Arnett, Kenosha, Wis., and Lucas Kraut, Elon, North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Suzanne, Mary, and John Wiegert, Holly (Eric) Schaefer and Gary Petit, Brandon and Brock Hammons, and Max and Mason Rogin; brother, Fred Kortemeier; sister, June Runte. Predeceased by her husband, Leo; parents; brother, Virgil Kortemeier.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, in Kenneth L. Countryman Funeral Ltd., 529 Washington St., Pecatonica, with Pastor Duane Hoffman of First Congregational United Church of Christ officiating. Burial in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Freeport. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, in the funeral home. Memorials to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.
