Juda/Brodhead - Marguerite Klopfenstein, age 89, of rural Juda, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2009, at Collinwood Elderly Care Home, Brodhead. She was born on March 12, 1920, Spring Grove Township, Green County, the daughter of Otto and Martha (Jordan) Goecks. She married Merlin J. Klopfenstein on January 1, 1938. He passed away on September 8, 2003.
Marguerite and her husband farmed in Decatur and Spring Grove Township until retiring on December 31, 1996. She was a past member of the Juda School Board and was one of the first sales persons for Tupperware. She loved gardening and playing the piano, organ, accordion, guitar, and singing with her siblings.
She is survived by her children; Shirley (Roger) Scheidegger, Rockford, IL, Danny (Bev) Klopfenstein, Jacky (Charlene) Klopfenstein, both of Brodhead, Bonny (James R.) Raymond, Milton, WI, Terry Klopfenstein, Juda, a brother, Emil "Bud" (Doris) Goecks, Juda, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Florence Ladwig, Rosie Clark, and a brother, William Goecks.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD, WI with Cal Schaver officiating. Burial will be in the Oakley Union Cemetery, rural Juda. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
