Marcus J. "Mark" Pink, age 80 of Monroe, died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, December 12, 2010.

Mark was born November 11, 1930 in Lancaster, WI, the son of Celestine and Catherine (Ertz) Pink. He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1949 and worked for Kroger's Grocery from 1949 until entering the U.S. Army in October, 1951. He was stationed in Germany and after his honorable discharge in 1953, Mark returned to his job with Krogers. He married Kay M. Thill from Hanover, IL, on November 13, 1954. They lived in Darlington and Lancaster before moving to Monroe in 1956. Marcus managed the local Kroger store which later became IGA. He was a member of St. Victor Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Monroe Council #1471, Monroe V.F.W. Post #2312, and was a life member of American Legion Post #84.

His main love was his family, but Mark also enjoyed woodworking and was a Badger and Packer fan.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Pink of Monroe; six children, Melissa (Kevin) Phillips of Monroe, Steven (Rebecca) of Monroe, Marc (Jill) of Gold Canyon, AZ, Randall (Marion) of Monroe, Todd (Dawn) of Rockford, IL, and Cory (Cynthia) Pink of Colorado Springs, CO; a daughter-in-law, Mahal Pink of Connecticut; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; three sisters, Catherine Schindler, Mary Louise (John) Walker, both of Lancaster, WI, and Miriam (Tom) Thill of Baraboo; a brother, Joseph (Shirley) Pink; and a sister-in-law, Carol Pink, both of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Thomas; and two brothers, Stanley and Norbert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 17, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Victor Catholic Church, Monroe. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Monroe, with military rites accorded by the Monroe American Legion Post Honor Guard. Visitation will be at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Knights of Columbus service at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in his name.
