Janice E. Farmer, age 72 of Monroe, died Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at her home. Jan was born July 19, 1943 in Madison, the daughter of Alvan and Ruth (Michaels) Rothermel. She attended Monroe High School and married Nate Farmer on June 23, 1962 in Monroe. Jan was self employed as an interior decorator for 40 years. She had a passion for art and won several awards throughout the years. She loved to golf having memberships at Monroe and Edelweiss Country Club, enjoyed collecting 45 rpm records, and taking the occasional trip to Dubuque.

She will be dearly missed by her husband, Nate Farmer of Monroe; a son, Brian (Kaci) Farmer of Frisco, TX; a granddaughter, Sofia Farmer; five sisters, Carla (Glen) Neuenschwander of Birchwood, WI, Elizabeth (Jerry) Adams of Monroe, Annette (Willy) Ruef of New Glarus, Ruth (John) Gentry of Monroe, and Deana (Bob) Beckwith of Monticello; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Jamie Henning.

A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, followed by a celebration of Jan's life at the Monroe Moose Lodge. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Jan's name.
