Fredrick D. "Mac" Ties, 67 of rural Ferryville, died on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at his home.

Mac was born in Monroe, WI, on March 11, 1943 to Fred and Arlene (Tollefson) Ties. He graduated from Brodhead High School in 1961 and Madison Business College in 1962. On July 28, 1962 Mac was united in marriage to Aleta "Tootie" Schwartzlow.

Mac spent much of his life driving truck. He loved the outdoors and loved people of all ages, especially his children and grandchildren. He had the gift of gab and was never too busy to have a conversation. Mac loved music, especially polka and a dance with Tootie.

Mac was an active member of Freeman Lutheran Church and the church Men's Group. He was retired from the Brodhead Volunteer Fire Department after 20 years of service. Mac was also a member of the Ferryville Antique Tractor Assoc. and Eagles Aerie #1502 in Prairie du Chien.

Mac is survived by his wife Aleta "Tootie"; children Steven (Lynn) Ties, Kathy (Tony) Brus; grandchildren Zachary & Brianna Ties, Amanda & Mitchell Brus; sisters Jeri (Jim) Iverson, Jane Raisbeck; and step-brothers Dave, Joe & Sam Eustice; and nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; step father Robert Eustice; Mother and Father-in-law Marvin & Sylvia Schwartzlow; and special brother-in-law Jim Schwartzlow.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 12:00 noon at Freeman Lutheran Church rural Ferryville, Wis. Pastor Doug Andersen will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon.

At the family's request, in lieu of flowers and plants, memorials should be made to the Freeman Lutheran Church, Sugar Creek Bible Camp or the Children's Diabetes Foundation.
