BRODHEAD — For the week of Aug. 1 to Aug. 7, police performed 50 security checks, 20 citizen assists, 12 assists of other agencies, eight follow-ups to incidents, 20 vehicle registration and nine traffic stops; responded to 49 calls for service and reported six EMS calls, 15 911 or BEEMS (Brodhead Elderly Emergency Monitoring System) calls and two fire calls. No detox or mental health transports were reported. 

On Aug. 1: 

●  A Monroe man, 53, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia at 2:22 a.m. in the 900 block of 19th Street. 

●  A dog barking for an extended period of time was reported at 8:43 p.m. in the 700 block of East 8th Avenue. A verbal warning was issued. 

On Aug. 2: 

●  Suspicious activity involving someone walking through neighbor’s backyard with a firearm was reported at 7:47 a.m. in the 600 block of 12th Street. It was found to be an air rifle. A verbal warning was issued. 

●  A damaged mailbox was reported at 11:58 a.m. in the 200 block of 2nd Street. This remains under investigation. 

●  Suspicious activity involving a vehicle driving slowly and pulling into driveways was reported at 2:26 p.m. in the N400 block of East 2nd Avenue. It was found to be a newspaper delivery driver. 

●  Disorderly conduct was reported at 5:34 p.m. in the 1400 block of East 4th Avenue.  

●  A dog at large was reported at 6:27 p.m. in the 2600 block of West 5th Avenue. Officers were unable to locate dog. 

●  Suspicious activity involving a car parked in lot after hours was reported at 10:20 p.m. in the 1600 block of 1st Center Avenue. It was found that the driver was making a phone call.  

●  A Pecatonica, Illinois woman, 72, was cited for speeding at 10:03 p.m. Aug. 3 in the 400 block of East 9th Avenue. 

On Aug. 4: 

●  Dogs barking was reported at 10:42 a.m. in the 100 block of Juniper Avenue. A verbal warning was issued. 

●  A motorcycle doing burnouts in driveway was reported at 8:27 p.m. in the 400 block of East 5th Avenue. A verbal warning was issued. 

On Aug. 5: 

●  A dog at large was reported at 10:45 a.m. in the 800 block of East Exchange Street. Dog was returned. 

●  A Monroe man, 53, was cited for speeding at 10:25 p.m. in the 2300 block of East 9th Avenue. 

On Aug. 6: 

●  Fraud involving stolen identity was reported at 1:27 p.m. in the 100 block of 14th Street. This remains under investigation. 

●  A Brodhead man, 26, was cited for failure to stop at stop sign at 4:12 p.m. in the 1100 block of West Exchange Street. 

On Aug. 7: 

●  A turtle on the roadway was reported at 4:18 a.m. in the 300 block of 23rd Street. The turtle was removed. 

●  A dog at large was reported at 10:34 a.m. in the 900 block of West Exchange Street. A warning was issued. 

●  A Rockford, Illinois man, 39, was cited for driving without a valid motorcycle license at 3:38 p.m. in the 100 block of 1st Street. 

●  Two individuals drinking intoxicants in a city park was reported at 6:42 p.m. at Headgates Park on Golf Course Road. Warnings were issued.

Monroe Police

MONROE — On Aug. 4:

●  Jason P. Briand, 40, Brodhead, was arrested on three active warrants issued by Green County Sheriff’s Office, Brodhead Police Department and the Wisconsin Department of Corrections at 2:33 a.m. Aug. 4 in the 800 block of 30th Street. He was jailed.

On Aug. 6:

●  Austin M. Coulthard, 18, Monroe, was arrested for violating a harassment restraining order at 4:55 p.m. Aug. 6 in the 1800 block of 12th Street. He was jailed. 

●  William R. Ellison, 29, Monroe, was arrested on a warrant for a probation violation at 8:39 p.m. Aug. 7 in the 1300 block of 17th Street. He was jailed.
