MONROE - The City of Monroe, with planning and engineering advisors Vierbicher Associates, will be hosting a workshop regarding housing in Monroe. The workshop is at 6:30 p.m. April 27 in the Justice Center's multipurpose rooms two and three, 2841 6th St., Monroe, in the lower level.

During the city's comprehensive plan process in 2015, several housing goals were identified to address over the next 20 years. As a first step toward understanding Monroe's housing better, earlier this year the City Council entered into an agreement with Vierbicher Associates to study the current state of housing and develop an action plan to address any needs that are identified.

This process started with a community housing survey conducted over a month between February and March this year. The survey received more than 400 responses.

The housing workshop will provide attendees with an opportunity to review the data collected during the survey. Attendees also will discuss what opportunities currently exist to address any needs and brainstorm ideas for new ways that the City of Monroe can address any gaps in current programs and policies to help achieve the community's goals. The workshop is open to the public.
