NEW GLARUS - The body of a 41-year-old rural Albany man was found along the Sugar River Trail Sunday morning, according to a statement from the Green County Sheriff's Department Sunday afternoon.
Richard H. Keegan Jr.'s body was discovered at about 8:10 a.m. on the trail east of Valley View Road in New Glarus township by an individual using the trail, the statement said. The person observed a body near a bicycle and returned home to New Glarus and called the sheriff's department.
Keegan was pronounced dead at the scene; no foul play is suspected, according to the sheriff's department statement. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
On Saturday, the sheriff's department received a missing person report for Keegan stating that he left his home at about 11:30 a.m. on a bicycle and was several hours overdue. There sheriff's department's statement said there was a concern "due to medical issues."
New Glarus police and EMS were alerted to the scene and were later assisted by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
