MONROE - The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department still has openings in several One-Day programs in August.
Spa Day for 8- to 12-year-olds will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday. Cost is $20 for residents and $25 for non-residents. A $15 donation will be made to the Andrew Gomez Dream Foundation. Students of Paul Mitchell the School will provide manicures and pedicures. Students should be dropped off at Paul Mitchell the School at 10 a.m. and picked up at Parks and Rec office.
My Little Pony is for children ages 4 to 10 and will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 4 at Northeast Park. Activities will include relays, games and a pony ride. The fees are $12R/$17NR.
Minion Training is for children ages 3 to 8. Minions assemble at Northeast Park from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 8 at a cost of $12R/$17NR.
Elsa's Frozen Spectacular is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at Turner Hall. Children ages 4 to 10 will join the "Frozen" cast for games and dancing at the ball. The fees are $12R/$17 NR.
Star Wars Adventure will begin for 6- to 12-year-olds from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 10 at Recreation North Park. Children may dress up as their favorite Star Wars character for Jedi training. The costs are $12R/$17NR.
Snakes, Alligators and Lizards will be the special guests Aug. 11 at Northeast Park. The speaker is sponsored by Kiwanis. Children will get to touch, interact with and learn about different reptiles. Children ages 4 to 12 may register for the 9 to 11 a.m. program at a cost of $12/$17NR. There will be a free program from 9 to 10 a.m. for any age children who must be accompanied by an adult.
American Girl Doll Tea Party is from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 15 at Turner Hall. Children ages 4 to 10 may dress in their fanciest outfits and take their favorite doll for making jewelry, dancing and a tea party. The fees are $12R/$17 NR.
The Doc is in! Doc McStuffins promises an afternoon of fun from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 16 at Recreation North Park. Children ages 3 to 8 may take their favorite stuffed animal for adventures. The costs are $12R/$17NR.
Down and Dirty is a summer program where children ages 5 through 12 can play messy games that will leave them slimy and laughing. The program is from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 17 at Recreation South Park. Children should wear old clothes or a bathing suit and bring a towel. The fees are $12R/$17NR.
Just Plane Crazy is a new program held at the Monroe Airport. Children ages 8 through 12 will get a chance to see airplanes up close and explore the world of aviation. Kids will be dropped off at the Community Center at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 19 and return at 12:30 p.m. A school bus will take them to the airport. The costs are $12R/$17NR.
