National Historic Cheesemaking Center, Monroe

MONROE — The National Historic Cheesemaking Center and Green County Welcome Center will open the doors for its 26th season May 1 for museum tours and tourist information. This will be a new normal for the organization, with reduced days and hours for the remainder of the year.

Guests and visitors can be assured that CDC policies and procedures are in place to maintain a safe and healthy environment while visiting the Center.

Hours will be Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with self- guided tours. Guided tours by experienced and knowledgeable docents are scheduled for 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. each day.

Many travelers are choosing to travel by car, recreational vehicles, and campers during the recovery period of the Covid pandemic. NHCC Executive Director, Donna Douglas, anticipates the spirit of traveling to smaller community area attractions will heal the morale of visitors, with friendly staff of volunteers and docents creating a memorable visit to Monroe and Green County.
