Monroe: Church Women United meets Monday

MONROE - Representatives from churches in Green County will begin Church Women United's new season with a Forum Meeting on Monday, Jan. 28, in the library of St. John's United Church of Christ, 1724 14th St., Monroe.

Refreshments will be served at 1 p.m. by Melva Tschanz and Shirley Buri of St. John's, and the meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. with devotions presented by Dorothy Schlapbach of Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello.

Main topic of the business meeting will be planning for World Day of Prayer on March 7. This is the first of three celebrations to be presented by CWU during 2008 according to Batie Freitag of Blanchardville, president of the organization.

The others will be Friendship Day on May 2 and World Community Day on November 7.

All churches in Green County are encouraged to participate in the activities of Church Women United by sending a representative to this first Forum Meeting on Jan. 28. More information is available by calling Freitag at (608) 523-4305 or Peggy Wetter at (608) 862-1120.
