Behring Senior Center classes, courses planned

MONROE — The Behring Senior Center has numerous activities and classes planned. Arrangements to participate can be made by calling the senior center at 325-3173 or stop at the center reception desk. Participants must pre-register for all programs, including free ones, so staff will know how many will be attending. All classes and activities are for people 55 and older.


Classes

●  Learn to have a basic conversation in German from 10:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 24 and Nov. 19 three times per week. Classes are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Instructor is Richard Benesh and there is a cost for the class.

●  SSM Health will be presenting, “Grieving through the Holidays” at 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 13. Call 325-3173 for more information.

●  Holiday sign painting with the purple vessel will be at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 15. Instructor is Sara Gough. Call 325-3173 or stop by to sign up and to choose a design and color. There is a cost for the class and needs to be paid by Nov. 8.

●  New Selling online computer class is set for 9 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 16. The instructor is Robin McLeish and there is a cost for this class.

●  Watercolor wreaths with Tracy Signer will be from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 5. No experience required and all supplies are included. There is a cost for the class.


Events

●  Breakfast for all Veterans and spouses ages 55 and over will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Nov. 7. There is a suggested donation and ask that you don’t arrive before 8 a.m. The next breakfast will be Dec. 5.

●  Edward Jones is bringing 2 programs to the Senior Center to help with your finances. Starting at 11:30 a.m., A conversation on Interest Rates is Nov. 13, and learn how to be Calm, Cool and Invested with Financial Strategies on Dec. 4.

●  SSM Health will be presenting “Grieving through the Holidays” at 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 13. Call 325-3173 for more information. 

●  The Nov. Movie, “Ocean’s 8”, will be at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 29. The movie runs for 110 minutes and popcorn and drinks will be provided.

●  Join us for a series of great programs presented by Jim Glessner. Each program will start at 1:30 p.m. and will feature its own special drink (Non-Alcoholic). There is a cost for each presentation and sign up for all five and get one free. Jim’s family and the Armed Forces will be Dec. 7, The Three Wright Houses will be on Jan. 16, Flowers and Pretty Things on Feb. 20, The Gessner’s and the Chicago Glessner House will be March 20, and George Washington and Fort Necessity will be May 22.
