From Josh Weaver

UW-Platteville student

To the editor:

I am a University of Wisconsin-Platteville student from Darlington, Wisconsin, and I am supporting Howard Marklein for re-election to the State Senate.

I first got to know Howard through the WI State Senate Scholar Program in 2016. Howard spent a great deal of time getting to know me, answer my questions, and asked for ideas and concerns I had about our senate district. These interactions with Howard showed me how passionate he is to help the people of our senate district.

When Howard found the $650 million surplus in the University of Wisconsin System, he led the charge to freeze tuition at UW schools for the past five years. This freeze has saved me $2500 per year which means a lot to me as I pay for my education.

Howard has also fought for $78 million for a new engineering hall and renovations to Boebel Hall at UW-Platteville. As a biology major, these much-needed renovations will introduce better resources that will give me an advantage in our competitive world.

These are just a few of the reasons why I will be voting for Howard on Nov. 6 to keep our senate district and state moving forward.
