O’Connor caps Olympic experience

BELLEVILLE — Belleville graduate Lauren O’Connor and the United States Women’s quadruple sculls rowing team concluded their Olympic run in the Final B on Wednesday, July 31.

The U.S. competed with Romania and Australia, finishing third of three teams with a time of 6:31.71. Romania won the  Final B with a time of 6:29.64.

In Final A, where medals were rewarded, Great Britain earned gold with a time of 6:16.31. The Netherlands finished just behind (6:16.46) for silver, and Germany took home the bronze (6:19.70). Switzerland (6:20.12), Ukraine (6:23.05), and China (6:27.08) trailed behind.

China still holds the Olympic and World record, set in 2021 (6:05.13).

The 2028 Summer Olympics have been planned for July 14-30 in Los Angeles, California.
