MILTON - The Monroe wrestling team won five matches in the Badger South Conference showdown against Milton, but lost a dual meet 54-21 to the ninth-ranked Red Hawks.

"They are a very good team," Monroe coach Jeriamy Jackson said of the Red Hawks, who are ranked No. 9 in the Wisconsin Wrestling Online Division 1 poll. It's just hard to come back. Shooting from 24 points down (due to four forfeits) is really tough."

Monroe sophomore Aaron Hesgard, at 119-pounds, defeated Milton's Dalton Erickson in a technical fall 15-0. Fellow sophomore Kevin Klopfenstein (125) pulled out a 4-2 win over Landon Shea.

"Kevin Klopfenstein had a great match wrestling against Landon Shea," Jackson said. "They are two of the top ranked wrestlers in the state."

Monroe senior Dylan Schwitz (152) defeated Milton's Joel Addie 9-0. Sophomore Trevor Gorr (215) pinned Lucas Montgomery in 44 seconds and senior Nick Walker at heavyweight won on a forfeit.
