PLATTEVILLE — Alex Ruetten carded an 81 to finish second overall in the Dick McKichan Invite at Platteville Country Club on Saturday, April 29. Twelve teams throughout southwest Wisconsin participated in the event.

“Alex played really well,” Argyle-Pecatonica head coach Chuck Chandler said. “We thought he had a good chance to win this event until a kid from Prairie du Chien came in late with a 76. I’m hoping this is a sign of things to come for Alex.”

The day previous, Argyle-Pecatonica shot a season high 207 at the SWAL Conference meet in Fennimore. Mineral Point carded a 155 to win, while Cuba City and Barneveld tied for second with a score of 180. Ruetten led the Orioles again with a score of 41.

“We definitely took a step backwards Friday,” Chandler said. “I’m not exactly sure why we played poorly as a whole, but there’s no time to feel sorry for ourselves, as we have five events in the next week.”
