Raiders blank Devils
Capitol Conference title within reach

BELLEVILLE — Sugar River, ranked No. 10 in Division 3, defeated Lodi, ranked No. 5 in Division 4, 3-0 on Tuesday, May 16. With the win, the Raiders move ahead of the Devils in the Capitol Conference standings by one point. The victory also extended Sugar River’s winning streak to 49 games (48-0-1), which spans back to 2016.

It took the Raiders some time, but Carrah Bainbridge scored in the 29th minute to give Sugar River the only goal it would need. Ten minutes later, Anya Brenkman got an assist from Annika Ziperski for a 2-0 lead. In the second half, Audry Brueggeman scored with an assist from Jenna Gentilli. Addison Lutz kept the shut out intact with three saves.

To win the Capitol Conference, Sugar River must defeat Watertown Luther Prep or hope Lodi loses to Wisconsin Heights-Barneveld.


Frank, Baraboo rolls Monroe

BARABOO — Junior Caitlyn Frank scored five goals with two assists in Baraboo’s 9-2 win over Monroe on Tuesday, May 16. The Thunderbirds had a 5-0 lead at halftime. Violet Lewis put the Cheesemakers on the board six minutes in to the second half. After another three goals from Baraboo, Atziry Ocampo scored in the 74th minute. Faith Kappel capped the game with an unassisted goal with two minutes left.
