Live: NG vs. Lourdes, WIAA Division 4 state championship
Kohl Center

2:26 p.m. - THAT'S IT! The New Glarus Glarner Knights are state champions! 67-62 over Oshkosh Lourdes!

2:22 p.m. - Feller and Martinson have knocked down some big free throws here in the final minute-plus. Knights lead 66-61 with just 37.6 seconds to go. Could this be the big golden moment for America's Little Switzerland?

2:16 p.m. - Mason Martinson had a big And-1 bucket, and now Feller is going to the line for the double bonus. New Glarus leads Lourdes 63-61 with 1:46 left in regulation. What a game. Sehr lustig!

2:06 p.m. - Connor Siegenthaler has hit a pair of big 3s for New Glarus here in the second half, and the Glarner Knights lead the regular Knights 56-51 with 5:18 to play in regulation. Both teams will be shooting bonus free throws for every non-charge foul the rest of the way.

1:55 p.m. - Lourdes has come out with the momentum in the second half, but just can't pull away. New Glarus just re-took the lead at 46-45 after an And-1 hoop on a layup by Zach Feller, who now has 12 points. Just 10:58 to go in regulation.

1:48 p.m. - It's the first timeout of the second half, and the game is tied at 39 with 14:37 left in regulation. New Glarus is 0/4 in the second half with a couple of turnovers that led to baskets. Lourdes is 2/6 from the field in these first 3+ minutes.

1:36 p.m. - Here's some halftime numbers to digest: Kreklow has 12 points, while Feller is at 9 and Martinson 8. NG has out-rebounded Lourdes 13-10. NG is shooting 15/29 from the field (51.7 percent), and 6/13 from deep (46.2 percent). Both those numbers are up from their season average (and by nearly 20 percent on 3s). Lourdes is basically at its season average all around, shooting 13/22 from the field and 4/9 from 3.

This should be a fantastic second half, and I wouldn't be surprised if both teams lock down on defense and try to limit possessions of each other.

1: 32 p.m. - Feller drains a 3-pointer right before the buzzer and New Glarus leads Oshkosh Lourdes 37-35 at halftime. It's been an up-tempo game with a lot of big plays. Sehr

1:30 p.m. - Timeout NG with 11.1 seconds left in the half. Lourdes just took a 35-34 lead, but New Glarus holds the ball for the final shot of the half.

1:26 p.m. - Lourdes sophomore Josh Bauer was just called for a charge, and it's a TV timeout with 2:06 left in the first half. New Glarus holds a 34-33 lead. Everybody is doing their part for the Glarner Knights - Mason Martinson in the post, Zach Feller from deep, Jaden Kreklow as a facilitator and scorer, Trevor Gassman and Connor Siegenthaler on the boards and with steals - even Patrick Craker and Darris Schuett have come on off the bench and made big plays.

1:17 p.m. - Timeout, Lourdes. The game is tied at 20-20. New Glarus has hit 8 of 18 shots from the field, including a 3-for-7 mark from deep (two by Zach Feller). Lourdes is 7/12 from the field, and 3/4 from three. This has been a great state championship game so far.

1:12 p.m. - 10:52 now left in the first half, New Glarus holds a tight 13-12 lead. Connor Siegenthaler has had a strong start to the game defensively, with three swipes already for NG.

1:09 p.m. - New Glarus trailed 3-0 after the first shot of the game, but rallied to take a 10-5 lead. It's now 10-6 with 13:20 left in the first. Martinson has a couple of buckets in the paint for NG, while Feller has a big 3.

12:35 p.m. Sheboygan Lutheran holds on for the WIAA Division 5 state championship. Division 4 warm-ups begin in just a couple of minutes.

12:25 p.m. - Just 1:16 left in the D5 title game, with Sheboygan Lutheran clinging to a 4-point lead on the Marshfield Columbus Catholic Dons. It's almost as if WISAA never merged with the WIAA. Almost.

12:10 p.m. - Lourdes will be wearing it's all-black unis with red numbers, while New Glarus will be wearing white. The radio and TV announcers have my pity calling this one - dark numbers on a darker background is really hard to see from a balcony.

12:00 p.m. - When the game does get going, you can follow this link for up-to-the-minute live statistics. It's one of the cool things about state - stats are officially kept in live time and a reporter isn't feverishly flipping through his notebook while balancing his camera on his elbow in order to text out the information on his phone in 30-60 second increments. Here in Madison, they do that part for us.

11:55 a.m. - Lourdes has two star shooters and then a compliment of players. Senior guard Henry Noone is averaging 21.8 ppg this year, and sophomore Preston Ruedinger is at 19.0 ppg.

But here's the thing: Noone is shooting a Steph Curry-like 58.5 percent from 3 coming into the tournament (121/207). Ruedinger came in at 48.0 percent (83/173). For comparison, each has shot more attempts from beyond the arc than anyone on NG - and at nearly double the rate of makes.

11:30 a.m. - It's the battle of the two Knights - Oshkosh Lourdes Knights (26-1) and the New Glarus Glarner Knights (25-2) - for the WIAA Division 4 boys basketball state championship.

I'll be less handy with the live blog today, as I'll be baseline taking photos instead of sitting with my computer on press row. Either way, it should be a great game as NG seeks its first state title.
