NEW GLARUS — Mineral Point won the annual New Glarus Invite May 11 at Edelweiss Chalet Country Club, finishing with a 325 team score, three shots better than La Cross Aquinas. Monticello-Belleville (344) won the tie breaker over Evansville for third place. Monroe (349) was fifth, with New Glarus (358) sixth, Brodhead (369) seventh, and Argyle-Pecatonica (420) 10th. Twelve teams played in the meet.

“It was a hot and humid day, but a welcome change from the weather we have experienced so far this golfing season,” said Jonathan Goodness, New Glarus coach.

Monroe’s Bert Leach was the overall medalist, fighting his way back from a slow start with a 2-over-par 74. Dodgeville’s Tyler Brady, Aquinas’ Benjamin Swift and Sam Dobbins, and Mineral Point’s Carson Kroll all tied for second with 77s. Reid Nolden and Josh Porter led Monticello-Belleville with 83s, the same score achieved by Monroe senior Carson Leuzinger. 

A day earlier, New Glarus finished fourth at the Capitol Conference Mini Meet in Lodi. Carter Siegenthaler and Ben Lukszys each shot 6-over-par, while Jack Douma was 7-over and Zak Arnett 8-over. 

Monticello-Belleville was third in the meet with a 176, six shots ahead of New Glarus. Lodi won the meet with a 159, two shots ahead of Cambridge.
