McFarland assistant girls basketball coach Heidi (Keen) Knapp (center) and the Spartans punched their ticket to state with a 70-51 win over Union Grove in the Division 2 sectional final on Saturday, March 4. McFarland fell to eventual champion Notre Dame 76-70. The last time McFarland went to state in 1999, the Spartans defeated Monroe in the sectional final.
