Edgewood routs Cheesemakers 9-0

MONROE — The Cheesemakers struggled against the fourth-ranked Crusaders April 9, falling 9-0 at T.R. Holyoke Field.

Edgewood scored twice in the first five minutes to go up 2-0, and led Monroe 6-0 at halftime.

In the second half, Edgewood scored three more goals.

Kyla Ziolkowski played 45 minutes in net for Monroe, recording 11 saves. Lily Frehner also played in net for Monroe, snagging five saves. 

Edgewood outshot the Cheesemakers 25-1. Madeline Cruz had a hat trick for Edgewood.

Sugar River 1, Lake Mills 0

LAKE MILLS — Morgan Hustad scored at the 52:42 mark in the second half to give the Raiders the only goal they needed April 9.

The Sugar River defense was on top of its game, allowing just two shots to come the way of keeper Rachael Heittola, who stopped both.

The Raiders put 13 total shots on goal.

Sugar River improved to 5-1 on the season, and 1-0 in the Capitol Conference. It was the fourth shutout of the season for the Raiders. 


Sugar River 1, Platteville 0

PLATTEVILLE — Rylee Hubbard scored in the 85th minute as the Raiders were able to squeak out a nonconference road win April 8.

Heittola had nine saves in net, and the fifth-ranked Sugar River had eight shots on goal.

A nonconference match against Sun Prairie April 11 was called off due to inclement weather.
