BARNEVELD - The Darlington Redbirds boys basketball used a strong second half to knock off Barneveld in a non-conference game Saturday, 52-40.

Darlington (11-1), ranked No. 8 in Division 4 in both the Associated Press and WisSports.net Coaches polls, led just 24-21 at halftime, but used an 11-7 third quarter run to separate themselves.

Barneveld (8-2) is ranked tied for seventh in the AP poll in Division 5 and eighth in the WisSports.net poll.

The playoff-like game was put in to help the Redbirds prepare for conference rival Cuba City (10-1, No. 6 AP/ No. 9 WisSports). The two SWAL foes are both undefeated in the conference (6-0) coming into Tuesday's matchup in Darlington.

In other area action on Saturday, Durand's boys team defeated Black Hawk 49-24 and Black Hawk's girls team defeated Durand 58-25.
