Cheesemakers' hot shooting sinks Panthers

OREGON - The Monroe girls basketball team found its shooting touch and clicked on all cylinders in a 57-27 thrashing of Oregon.

Monroe senior Kylee Ritschard scored a game-high 17 points and hit three of the Cheesemakers' six 3-pointers.

The Cheesemakers jumped out to a 19-8 first quarter lead and led by 12 points at halftime. The Cheesemakers went on a 21-0 run, from the end of the second quarter into the third, to take a commanding, 43-16 lead. The Cheesemakers also dominated the second half outscoring the Panthers 29-11.

"It's just one of those games where we put it all together," Monroe coach Sam Mathiason said. "It's a real nice win. We did a good job of holding them to 27 points."

Monroe junior Brooke McBain scored 12 points and senior Kyleigh Sellnow added seven points and nine assists. The Cheesemakers had 17 assists on their 24 baskets.

"That's great," Mathiason said of the Cheesemakers' 17 assists. "We did a good job of making the extra pass and getting some easy baskets.
