Chandler strong in relief and at plate

BARNEVELD - Pecatonica senior Brooks Chandler came in to pitch and stymied Barneveld to lift the Vikings to an 11-5 win on Tuesday.

Pecatonica junior A.J. Hendrickson started on the mound and gave up five runs on six hits. He struck out four and walked three.

With the game tied at 5 going into the fourth inning, Pecatonica coach Jim Strommen went to Chandler. Chandler retired 11 straight batters and tossed 32⁄3 no-hit innings to get the win. Chandler also went 4-for-5 at the plate with a double and two RBI.

"Brooks really shut them down," Strommen said. "The kids did a really good job of just putting the ball in play. We did just enough offensively."

Hendrickson had a two-run single in the first to tie the game at 2. Pecatonica's Gavin Burdick had a clutch two-run single in the second to help the Vikings (10-1, 6-0 Six Rivers East) take a 5-2 lead.

Chandler had a key two-run single in the Vikings' three-run seventh to seal the victory.



Argyle 10,

Albany 4

ARGYLE - Senior Riley Ostby went 2-for-3 with three RBI to drive Argyle past Albany.

The Orioles (4-7, 2-4 Six Rivers East) came through with a four-run first inning to take a 4-1 lead. Argyle scored four runs in the fourth to take an 8-1 lead. Argyle junior Collin Argue went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Ostby pitched 5 1/3 innings to get the win. He gave up one run and struck out six. Junior Cam Treuthardt tossed 1 2/3 innings in relief and struck out one.

Senior Tyler Dahl had three hits to lead the Comets (6-4, 4-3).

Albany pitcher Corbin Kelley pitched six innings and gave up 10 runs on 10 hits. He struck out three and walked two.



Columbus 16,

New Glarus 0 (5)

NEW GLARUS - Junior Peyton Henry tossed a one-hit shutout to lead Columbus to a win over New Glarus.

Columbus' Tanner Kirchberg went 4-for-4 with two RBI. The Cardinals pounded out 18 hits. Columbus sophomore Connor Manthey went 2-for-3 with three RBI and teammate Randon Dauman was 2-for-4 with three RBI.

The lone hit for the Glarner Knights came on junior Hayden Latsch's single.

New Glarus sophomore Jared Carney pitched two innings and gave up five runs, but just one earned run on five hits. He struck out two and walked two.

The Knights committed five errors.

New Glarus junior John Chenoweth tossed one inning and gave up five earned runs on seven hits. Junior Brandon Winder pitched two innings and gave up three earned runs on six hits.
