Wyllie McMicken, age 92, of rural Argyle passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023 at the SSM Health Hospital in Monroe. He was born on January 3, 1931 the son of Burnet and Emily McMicken in Aurora, IL.  He graduated from East Aurora High School.  Wyllie was united in marriage to Lydia on August 18, 1951 in Aurora, IL.

Wyllie started farming in Wheatland Township, IL and devoted 25 years to cultivating the land; and working winters as a steel worker in Aurora.  He was an active member of the community belonging to Wheatland Presbyterian Church in Plainfield, IL and a member of the Wheatland 40 C School Board.  In 1974 he purchased a farm in Green County, that he enjoyed working on every day.  He proudly raised Black Angus Cattle.  Wyllie’s love for nature extended beyond farming, his favorite pastimes were hunting, horseback riding, bird watching, snowmobiling, gardening, and canoeing; he even built a canoe for his daughter.  He enjoyed staying active playing baseball, ice skating, and playing hockey.  He had a spirited sense of humor, and loved to tell jokes.  His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Wyllie is survived by his daughter, Margo (Dan); granddaughters, Emily (Brandi) and Erica; great-granddaughters, Trinity and Chloe; and special friend, Glenda. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Lydia.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 12:00 PM NOON at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Johnson officiating. 

A visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be held at the family farm W7948 Sunset Rd. Argyle, WI 53504.

Burial will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Wheatland Presbyterian Church Cemetery 11839 Heggs Rd. Plainfield, IL 60585.  Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com.
