Richard “Rick” Schneider, age 79 of Brodhead passed away on Monday, October 12, 2026 surrounded by his family at home. He was born on January 8, 1947 the son of Rudolph and Harriet (Sieg) Schneider in Monroe. Rick graduated from New Glarus High School in 1965. After high school Rick proudly served in the United States Army. On January 6, 1968 Rick married Diane Disch; she preceded him in death on February 24, 1989. He later married Janice Rufer on April 9, 1990.

Rick worked for General Motors for 32 years, retiring in 2000. He was an active member of the Brodhead VFW, Brodhead American Legion, AMVETS of Wisconsin, and Vietnam Veterans Chapter III. He was also a member of both the Congregational United Church of Christ and the Methodist Church in Brodhead. From October 2002 until 2011, Rick served as a trustee and custodian for the Brodhead Methodist Church. In his free time, Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors.

Rick is survived by his wife, Janice of Brodhead; children, Michelle (Jeff) Blackman of Green Bay, Angela Schneider of PA, Mike (Dawn) Rufer of Clinton, Debra (Tim) Conway of Brodhead, and Jean (Craig) Randles of Janesville; grandchildren, Alex, Zoey, Oliver, Ben, Stephanie, Jacque, Aislinn, Ty, Grace, Ryan, Rachel, Madalyn, and Maya; great-grandchildren, Evan, Hadley, Luna, and Olivia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Diane; grandson, Ashtian Rufer; sisters, Sharon Wolter and Gail Crupp; and twin brothers in infancy, Keith and Kevin.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Congregational United Church of Christ with Pastor Shawn Stapleton officiating. A private family burial will be held at Milton Lawns Memorial Park in Janesville.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Everson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
