Ralph “Sonny” Johnson, age 92 of Wiota passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born on July 4, 1930 the son of William and Inga (Berget) Johnson. He attended a one room school house in Wiota and later attended Argyle High School. 

Sonny married Helen McGowan on June 17, 1956 at Yellowstone Lutheran Church.  He owned his own excavating business, Ralph Johnson Excavating for many years.  He enjoyed going on trips with Helen, especially their trips to Switzerland.  When he was younger, he enjoyed playing baseball.  He loved watching sports; it could be the Packers or the hometown talent games in Wiota. He also enjoyed going to auctions.  He thought the world of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.      

Sonny is survived by his wife, Helen; children, Karlan (Shirley) Johnson, and Eldon (Alice) Johnson; grandchildren, Melissa Brunner, Jeremiah Johnson, and Joshua (Lacey) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Hayden and Keira Brunner, Addisyn and Matthew Johnson, and Archer, Oaklee, and Waverly Johnson; sister, Juanita (Bernard) Rear; and dear friend, Neil Swiggum; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Amos, Frances, Lillian, Herbert, LeNore, Alva, Winona, Donna, and Wm. Keith in infancy.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Wiota Lutheran Church with Vicar Myron Crawford officiating.  Burial will be held at a later date at Yellowstone Lutheran Cemetery.
