BRODHEAD – Marcia E. (Fluegel) Leitzen, 70 of Brodhead, WI passed away suddenly on November 1, 2021. Born on May 19, 1951, to Donald and Evelyn (Smith) Fluegel, she grew up on the family farm in rural Dakota, Il. She graduated from Dakota High School in 1969 and went on to attend beauty school in Sterling, Il. Marcia married Gary Woodley on July 24, 1971, in Rockton, Il. Together they raised three children, before divorcing in 2007. On September 22, 2012, she married Richard Leitzen in Broadhead, WI. Marcia was a hairdresser at Ida’s Beauty Shop in Freeport for many years. She made a career change in the mid 1980’s when she began working as an Optician for Drs. Wendell Cox and Raymond Alberts at Park Hills Optical in Freeport, Il. Although she had no experience, Dr. Cox commented they hired her because she was a farm girl, and they knew she would be a hard worker. She later retired from the Monroe Clinic. She loved to go on scrapbooking retreats with her daughters, reading, puzzles, traveling, sewing, quilting, and selling her crafts at local shows. She enjoyed going to concerts with her girlfriends too. Perhaps her most joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and attending their many sporting and school events each and every week throughout the year.
She is survived by her husband, her father and her children, Lisa (Gary) Sigurslid of Deerfield, WI and their sons, Ben and Luke Sigurslid; Stephanie (Steve) Kloepping of Orangeville, IL and their sons, Kyle and Drew Kloepping; and Tim (Chasity Olson) Woodley of South Wayne, WI and his children Alyssa, Mason and Kaitlyn Woodley.
Her sister Vickie (Curt) Witt of Freeport and her brothers, Terry (Debbie) Fluegel of Dakota and Larry Fluegel of Dakota.
Her legacy also includes her stepchildren Kirk (Jill) Leitzen of Brodhead, WI; Shana Froese of Sauk City, WI and her sons Landon and Gavin; and Corey Leitzen of Brodhead, WI and his children Kiley, Preston, and Sophia as well as her great granddaughter Kashtyn Badertscher.
She was proceeded in death by her mother, Evelyn.
