MONROE - A 46-year-old rural Brodhead man was found dead Thursday, apparently killed from an accident while riding his bicycle.
At about 4 p.m. Thursday, Green County Sheriff's deputies, Brodhead EMS and Green County Deputy Coroner Kris Haase responded to Hoosier Road in Spring Grove Township after a passing motorist found a man and a bicycle in the ditch line. The man was identified as William C. McKee, 46, of rural Brodhead. McKee was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hoosier Road is one mile north of the Wisconsin/Illinois state line in the southeast corner of Green County.
Preliminary investigation indicates McKee was traveling downhill on a bicycle towing a small trailer when he lost control and left the roadway. It appeared McKee fell off the bike, resulting in a fatal injury.
The Green County Sheriff's Department and Coroner's office are investigating McKee's death. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and approximate time of death.
