Parks department offers tree planting program

MONROE - The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department will offer a Spring Terrace Tree Planting Program.

Residents who would like a tree planted on their terrace should visit the parks and recreation department to pick out a tree and pick up a red flag. Tree orders for the spring planting are due on Friday, April 4. Red flags should be put out to mark where trees need to go by Monday, April 7. Planting will begin the week of April 21.

Trees available for the spring planting include: Emerald Lustre Maple for $39, Burgundy Belle Maple for $49, Sienna Glen Maple for $49, White Oak for $92, Skyline Honey Locust for $49, Low Growing Trees Cleveland Select Pear for $49, Ivory Silk Lilac for $49 and Satisfaction Maple for $39. The price of the tree includes the park department planting, staking, mulching, fertilizing and watering the tree at the time of planting. The homeowner is also given information from the nursery on care after planting. The trees are guaranteed for one year and will be replaced at no cost.

These trees are only for city residents and can only be planted on the terrace.
