MONROE — The 2018 grants were awarded from Monroe Fund, Reasa Charitable Fund, Dr. Fred W. and Alice J. Kundert Charitable Fund, Reasa Historic Preservation Fund, Robert B. Olson Investment Fund for Monroe High School, Jane Lysaght Memorial Fund, The CLAIRE Fund and The Thomas F. Campion Charitable Fund. The reception was held in the courtroom on the top floor of Monroe’s courthouse. More than $53,000 in grants was presented to nonprofit organizations serving the needs of the Monroe area, with a total of over $600,000 awarded since 1998.
The Clifford and Dorothy Reasa Charitable Fund awarded grants to the Green County Veterans Park, Star of Honor;
Main Street Monroe Inc., Historic Downtown for Downtown Christmas Grows; and City of Monroe, Park and Recreation for Fireworks.
Funds from the Clifford and Dorothy Reasa Fund for Historic Preservation went to Green County Historical Society for chimney removal and soffit repair and to the National Historic Cheesemaking Center for floor refinishing of the Green County Welcome Center and roof replacement.
Funds from Fred W. and Alice J. Kundert Charitable Fund went to Main Street Monroe Inc. for senior citizen night at the Concert on the Square and to Monroe Arts Center Inc. for Mata Ortiz pottery exhibition/children’s creative station.
Funds from Robert B. Olson Investment Fund for Monroe High School went to: School District of Monroe for All Access Arts and Shakespeare on the Edge for Shakespeare by Kids for Kids.
Funds from the Monroe Fund went to: Green County Human Services/ADRC for home-delivered meals; Green County Human Services for respite care program; Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Green County Inc. for Monroe school-based mentoring program support; City of Monroe for Behring Senior Center for veterans’ story project; Everyone Needs a Home Inc for ENAH pet food pantry; Family Promise of Green County Inc for agency/client transportation; Forum for Monroe Youth Hockey for figure/hockey skates; Green County YMCA for cycling bike; Fowler Dental Clinic for moving expenses; Green County Genealogical Society for computer purchase; Mainstreet Monroe Inc for Farmers Market entertainment; Monroe Arts Center Inc. for Mata Ortiz pottery exhibition/children’s creative station; Monroe Arts Center Inc. for Performance in the Schools; Monroe School District for All Access Arts; Noah’s Ark Preschool for child care software upgrade; Pleasant View Nursing Home for outdoor garden walking path; Rainbow Childcare for infant/toddler strollers; and Shakespeare on the Edge for Shakespeare by Kids for Kids.
Funds from The CLAIRE Fund went to
Monroe Park and Rec for enrichment programs for special needs and Monroe Park and Rec for a special needs playground.
Funds from Thomas F. Campion Charitable Fund went to: Wisconsin Badger Camp for camperships; Monroe Park and Rec for financial assistance scholarships; Family Promise for transportation; Forum, Monroe Youth Hockey for figure/hockey skates; and Green Cares Food Pantry.
Funds from Jane Lysaght Memorial Fund went to Fowler Dental Clinic for moving expenses.
The funds are components of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, a nonprofit public foundation serving nine southern Wisconsin counties. A wide array of interests, including the arts, education, recreation, heath care, human services, social services, historic preservation and housing needs, have benefited from these grants that assist Monroe residents in all age groups.
