MONROE - The nationwide Emergency Alert System (EAS) test scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9 has been shortened from 3 minutes to 30 to 60 seconds.
Local radio, television stations, cable television service providers, public radio and satellite digital audio radio providers that are tasked with receiving and transmitting EAS alerts will be participating in the test. National Weather Service radios will not be broadcasting the alert.
