Green County Historical Society: Aerial photo of Monroe
59508a.jpg
Photo supplied by the Green County Historical Society
This aerial photo was taken from near St. Clare Hospital looking to the northwest. Notice the Rosa greenhouses and the Starflower shop in the bottom right. The Idle Hour Mansion and its carriage house, which served as a museum for the Green County Historical Society in the 1950s, are in the center right. It is obvious that the Wisconsin 69 bypass had been completed on the north side of Monroe, but the Wisconsin 11 bypass was not yet built. The ground for the YMCA had not been broken yet. The former Borden plant is shown on the left center. Copies of any of the photos in the collection of the historical society may be purchased for a nominal fee. Two other aerial views of the Rosa businesses are included in the "Monroe Area Pictorial History" that was published in 2016.
