Vernus L. Cassidy age 86 of Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin died Sunday, September 25, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. He was born July 5, 1925 in Fayette Township, Lafayette County, Wisconsin the son of Howard and Vera (Ferrell) Cassidy, attended Waldwick Grade School, & graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1943.
Vernus married Betty Buckingham on March 11, 1948 at Blanchardville, WI. He later married Charolette Hawkins Kehm on November 29, 1987 at Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe, WI. Vernus was a member of Waldwick Methodist Church, farmed, was a Salesman for Wick & Wisconsin Pole Structure, and enjoyed golfing, dancing, and since 1987 spent winter months in Florida.
Surviving are his wife, Charolette Cassidy of Mt. Horeb, WI; children, David (Barbara) Cassidy of Brodhead, WI, Cheryl (John) Jonovic of Lake Placid, FL, William Cassidy of Dodgeville, WI, & Scott (Barbara) Cassidy of Blanchardville, WI; brothers, Kenneth (Lori) Cassidy of Avon Park, FL & Jerry (Carole) Cassidy of Mineral Point, WI; step-children, William (Mary) Kehm of Grants Pass, OR, Janet (Charles) Helwig of Durand, IL, Jeffrey Kehm of Albany, WI, Dennis (Sue Walmer) Thompson of Janesville, WI, Kenlyn (Roger) Walmer of Monticello, WI, Karla (Randall) Smith of South Wayne, WI, Kelvin (Marjorie "Jean" Blum) Blazer of Monroe, WI, Kolleen (Charles Welty) Kehm of Monroe, WI, Kristine (Tom) Armitage of Brodhead, WI, & Karen (Tom) Kehm-Hefty of Mt. Horeb, WI; step-daughters-in-law, Margaret Thompson & Judy Kehm; 9 Grandchildren; 10 Great-Grandchildren; 29 Step-Grandchildren; 46 Step-Great-Grandchildren; and many Nieces & Nephews. He was predeceased by his Parents; and step-sons, Bruce Kehm & Robert Thompson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 30, 2011 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Drive & N. 18th Avenue in Monroe with Karl Gant officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Countyline Cemetery at Waldwick, WI.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, September 29, 2011 at the Funeral Home.
