Traffic Accidents: March 24, 2011

Green County Sheriff

MONROE - One person was injured in a one-vehicle accident at about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday on County A south of Badger Road in the Town of York. Deputies report Sandra K. Strommen, 58, Blanchardville, was northbound on County A and reported she swerved to miss a turkey that flew across the road. Strommen lost control of her vehicle. The vehicle went off the west side of the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned onto its side. Strommen sustained injuries and was transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Madison by New Glarus EMS for treatment. The vehicle received extensive damage and was towed from the scene. New Glarus EMS and New Glarus Fire Department were also dispatched.

- A vehicle driven by Tamara L. Hershberger, 31, Monticello, was northbound at about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday in the N6100 block of Wisconsin 69 in the Town of Mount Pleasant, when two raccoons ran into the path of her vehicle. One raccoon struck the front end and other went under the left front tire. The vehicle received minor damage and was driven from the scene.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - One person was injured in a one-vehicle rollover accident at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday on County E in the Town of Darlington. Deputies report Brittany A. Monahan, 19, Shullsburg, was southbound when her vehicle crossed the road, traveled through a fence and rolled over in a field. Monahan sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital. The vehicle received severe damage and was towed form the scene. Monahan was cited for a seatbelt violation. Darlington Fire Department and Rural Medical Ambulance assisted at the scene.

- Richard J. Tuescher, 74, Darlington, reported hitting a deer at about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday on Wis. 81 in the Town of Darlington.
