Shirley A. Hartwig, age 79 of Argyle, WI, passed away Friday, December 17, 2010, at Monroe Clinic Hospital in Monroe, WI. She was born March 16, 1931 in Blanchardville, WI, the daughter of Edward and Petra (Anderson) Erickson. Shirley graduated from Monroe High School in 1949. She was united in marriage to Harvey M. Hartwig on June 26, 1949 at Jordan Lutheran Church in Jordan Township, Green County, WI. Shirley lived and farmed in Lamont Township with her husband since 1955. She worked as an Assistant Manager at Swiss Colony's Print Shop for 30 years, retiring on March 28, 2002.

Shirley is survived by her husband: Harvey; three children: Walter Harvey (Theresa) Hartwig of rural South Wayne, WI, Jonathan Harvey Hartwig of rural Woodford, WI, and Shirlene (Daniel) Chart of Stoughton, WI; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law: Byron Hartwig of Monroe; one sister-in-law: Marrianne Erickson of Stoughton, WI; three nieces: Nancy Hartwig of Fitchburg, WI, Sharon (LaVerne) Rosenteil of Monticello, WI, and Beth (Hugh) Roberts of Richmond, IL; and one nephew: Bill Hartwig of Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Clarice Hartwig and Ada Granberg; one brother Donald Erickson; and one niece Susan Stuessy.

Shirley was a member of Apple Grove Lutheran Church and its Women of ELCA. She was a past member of Sons of Norway Lodge #5642, Moose Lodge Chapter #599, Lafayette County Homemakers, Lafayette County Blue Bird Society of North America, and Lafayette County Historical Society. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Shirley had many friends and treasured their friendship greatly. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 20, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. at Apple Grove Lutheran Church, 14501 Apple Grove Church Road in rural Argyle with Rev. Daniel L. Bohlman officiating. Burial will be in Apple Grove Cemetery in rural Argyle. A visitation will be held Sunday, December 19, 2010, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home, 60 Breeze Terrace (GPS Users: 801 East Milwaukee Street) in Argyle and on Monday, December 20, 2010 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church.
