Rita M. Baker, age 77 of Monroe, died Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on June 17, 1936 in Belmont, WI; the daughter of John Henry and Marguerite (Buss) Snyder. She graduated from Belmont High School in 1954 and Green County Teachers College in 1957. Rita married Kenneth Baker on August 17, 1957 at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Belmont, WI. Rita was a Teacher at Oakley and Round Grove country schools, she was a secretary at the Monroe school for 32 and a half years. She was also involved with the Green County Fair Assoc. from 1972 to 1988, served as Fair Director from 1977 to 1988, and State and County Fair from 1984 to 1988. Rita was also a member of St. Victors Catholic Church, Monroe Moose Lodge #599, Monroe Clinic Hospice and the Retired Education Assoc.

She is survived by 6 children: Karyn Johnson of Monroe, Brent (Kathy) Baker of Menomonee Falls, WI, Paula (Terry) Feltmeyer of Stockton, IL, Jon (Denise) Baker of Browntown, Elizabeth Kay (Steve) Shepard of Kansas City, MO, and Tina (Jerry) Mau of Browntown; 18 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Stephanie Lynn; brother, Paul Snyder; and sisters, Ann Purcell and Jean Knebel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church, with Fr. Larry Bakke celebrating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 10 from 3:00 to 8:00 pm. at Shriner Hager Gohlke funeral home, with a Women of the Moose service at 8:00 pm. Memorials may be given in Rita's name to St. Victor Catholic Church, Moose Lodge or Monroe clinic Hospice.
