HAZEL GREEN, WI - Melva I. Lewey, 87, of Hazel Green, WI passed away on Thursday December 9, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA. Services will be 12:30pm on Tuesday December 14, 2010 at Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI, with Pastor Ed Jones officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Friends may call from 9:30am till time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Melva was born on October 1, 1923 in Hazel Green, WI to Fred and Irene (Jones) Coward. She married Mervale "Bill" Lewey on August 26, 1948. They had 61 wonderful years together. After raising 2 children, she went to work as a nursing assistant in a nursing home in Dubuque, IA. She worked there for many years. She was a long time member of the Hazel Green United Methodist Church and the Hazel Green American Legion Auxiliary. The last 11⁄2 years she was a resident at Southwest Health Center Nursing Home. Melva was a very loving and caring person. Her family always came first. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Melva is survived by her husband Mervale "Bill"; a daughter Barbara Lewey both of Hazel Green, WI; a son Dennis Lewey and grandson Austin of Monroe, WI; a sister Anna Mae Rambow of Tucson, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, one sister and a daughter-in-law. In lieu if flowers, memorials may be given to the Hazel Green United Methodist Church.
