Karen (Sellnow) Indergand, age 54 of Monroe, died on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at her home. Karen was born December 3, 1954 in Monroe and was the daughter of Donald and Ardelle (Monte) Sellnow. She graduated from Blackhawk High School in 1973 and was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ of Monroe.
Karen loved to play ball and dance, especially when her brother Ken played the trumpet with the State Line Playboys. She also enjoyed her classmate's music, Greg Anderson of the Greg Anderson Band. Karen was a hard worker on the farm by milking cows and throwing hay bales. She loved her sons, Dave and Ryan, and her four grandchildren. She loved her parents who gave her love, took care of her, provided good food, planted flowers and prepared her apartment for her. She met many new friends, residents, and workers during the 5 1/2 years she was at Pleasant View Nursing Home. Hospice, special caregivers, nursing home and hospital workers all need a big pat on the back for all they have done. Everyone was good to Karen by making several visits, bringing gifts, and leaving with a hug and kiss. February 4, 2008 was a happy day for Karen when she moved to her apartment from the nursing home. No matter where she was, many came to visit, and some even took her shopping. On one rainy day, a generous man stopped to give her his umbrella. Another memorable event was when Greg Anderson, caregiver and classmate, took her to her 35th class reunion in 2008.
Survivors are her sons, Dave (Kim Schmid) and Ryan (Jody); parents, Don and Ardelle Sellnow; grandchildren, Cassidy, Ryer, Drew and Kiera Indergand; niece, Kendra (Michael) Urban; godmother, Carol Foesch. Other survivors include aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters and brothers-in-law, and special family members in Texas and Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Ken Sellnow; grandparents, Gus and Emma Monte and Roy and Helen Sellnow; uncles, Bill Wilde, Cliff Dix, Werner Buholzer, Cliff Leck; aunt, Viola Buholzer; father and mother-in-law Ray and Helen Indergand.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2009 at SHRINER-HAGER-GOHLKE FUNERAL HOME, 1455 Mansion Drive and 18th Avenue in Monroe, WI, with Rev. Mike Heath officiating. Interment will be in Saucerman Cemetery in rural Browntown.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2009 at the funeral home.
When tomorrow starts without me and I'm not there to see.
The sun that shines upon your eyes, which are filled with tears for me.
I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today.
While thinking of the many things we didn't do or say.
I know how very much you love me, as much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me I know you'll miss me too.
But when tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart. For every time you think of me, I'm right there in you heart.
