John Vanderlei III, age 60, of Monroe, died on Sunday, November 28, 2010, in Monroe. He was born on January 3, 1950 in Chicago, IL, the son of John and Roma (Villages) Vanderlei Jr. John and Verena Faessler were married on November 20, 1993 at St. Victor Catholic Church. John worked at the Y.M.C.A., American Family Insurance and at Pleasant View Nursing Home. He was a member of St. Victor Catholic Church and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 754. John was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying the outdoors and extremely keen on wildlife identification.
Surviving is his wife, Verena Vanderlei; brothers, Russ (Laurie) Vanderlei, Kevin Vanderlei and Andru Vanderlei; also many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; special friend, angel on earth and caretaker, Lucinda Green. He is predeceased by his parents and sister-in-law, Cheryl Vanderlei.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 12:00 P.M. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 10:00 until the time of service at 12:00 P.M., noon at the funeral home.
