Harold H. J. Kelly, age 100, of Shullsburg, WI, formerly of Darlington, WI, passed away Friday, September 28, 2012, at Shullsburg Home. He was born November 18, 1911 in Lafayette County, WI, the son of Herman and Ella (Lyne) Kelly. Harold graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1931. He lived and farmed in Darlington Township. Harold was united in marriage to Edna C. Meier on September 15, 1934 at Edna's sister's home in Seymour Township, WI. In 1999, Harold and Edna celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Harold is survived by one son: Richard (Marian) Kelly of Darlington, WI, one daughter: Marilyn (Herbert) Hoepfner of Sumner, IA; 16 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and one aunt: Louise Lyne of Lafayette Manor in Darlington. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Edna on December 24, 1999; one son: David E. Kelly in 1969; one brother: Herman J. Kelly; and four sisters: Anna Mary Homb, Evelyn Kelly, Freida Kelly and Ruth Heim.
Harold was a member of Wardsville Primitive Methodist Church. He was also a member of Amicitia Lodge #25 Free & Accepted Masons of Shullsburg, where he held various offices. Harold was a past president of Rowe School in Darlington Township. He loved to go fishing, read, and play cards.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Darlington United Methodist Church, 546 Main Street in Darlington with Rev. Larry Hakes officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington. A visitation will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erickson Funeral Home, 508 Main Street in Darlington.
