DARLINGTON - A Gratiot man was sentenced Dec. 12 in Lafayette County Circuit Court to nine months in jail on a felony count of second-degree sexual assault of a child.
Alex David Gertsch, 20, pleaded guilty to the charge in August. An additional felony charge of first-degree sexual assault of a person under 16 was dismissed.
Gertsch was also sentenced to five years probation, concurrent with his jail time. He is eligible for Huber work release.
He was originally charged with five felony counts related to allegations he sent sexually charged texts and photos to girls who were 16 and 17; possessed child pornography; and had sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl when he was 16.
