Francis W. "Red" Leitzinger age 83 of Shullsburg, WI, passed away Friday, January 7, 2011, at Southwest Health Center in Cuba City, WI. He was born October 26, 1927 in Shullsburg the son of Arnold and Adelaide (Alderson) Leitzinger. Red lived in Shullsburg all of his life. On October 4, 1952 he was united in marriage to Eilene Hocking at Methodist Church Parsonage in Darlington, WI. Red farmed in Shullsburg Township until his retirement in 1999, but he continued to supervise his kids from the golf cart he would drive around the farm.
Red is survived by his wife: Eilene at home; four children: Carolyn (Dave Driscoll) Temperly of Dubuque, IA, Robert (Jane) Leitzinger of rural Shullsburg, Steven (Denise) Leitzinger of Shullsburg, and Hope (Mick) Langmeier of Cuba City; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law: Lois and Linda Leitzinger both of Shullsburg, and Barbara Leitzinger of Monroe,WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: William Arnold Leitzinger in infancy, Kenneth, Joseph, and Wayne Leitzinger.
Red was a life long member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Shullsburg and Amicitia Lodge #25 Free and Accepted Masons of Shullsburg. He loved spending time with his family, watching the Green Bay Packers and professional wrestling. Red was a staunch republican and was always up on current events.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. at Centenary United Methodist Church 226 West Church Street in Shullsburg with Rev. Irv Case officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Shullsburg. A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 11, 2011, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at O'Flahrity-Erickson Funeral Home 235 North Judgement Street in Shullsburg where Masonic services will be held at 8:00 P.M and Wednesday, January 12, 2011, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church.
