MONROE - Elizabeth "Betty" Jane Dreier, age 77, died Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at the New Glarus Nursing Home. She was born on December 5, 1930 in Menominee, IL; the daughter of Oscar and Irene (Carter) Lersch. She graduated from Gratiot Union High School. Betty married Heinz Dreier on January 9, 1954 at St. Joseph's Church in Gratiot, Wisconsin. The Dreier family farmed in the Wiota and Red Rock area. Betty enjoyed working at Brennan's in Monroe and was the snack bar manager at Wal-Mart for 10 years.

Betty belonged to St. Joseph's Church in Gratiot. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was an awesome pie maker. Betty often attended her granddaughters volleyball, basketball, soccer, swim team and Irish dancing events. She was "Grandma Betty" to many young friends from the Blanchardville and New Glarus area. Betty loved playing cards, watching the Brewers - she was an avid fan; and saying that magic word "BINGO". We will miss her loving care and happy voice as we remember our wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and Friend.

She is survived by daughters: Virginia (Eric) Dreier-Schween of New Glarus and Kathleen Cushman of Marshfield; 4 granddaughters: Michelle Hardyman of San Diego, CA, Stephanie Hardyman of Platteville, WI, Kayla and Anya Schween of New Glarus. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Phyllis Knouse, Dolly Thyberg, Helen Harker and Evelyn Hermanson; brothers, Williard Lersch and Glenn Lersch; her husband, Heinz in 1989; and a daughter, Jan Hardyman in 2006.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2008 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Gratiot, with Fr. David Wanish Celebrating. Burial will be in St. Joseph' Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home in Monroe, Wisconsin.
