COEBURN, Va. - Charles (Chuck) Melvin Gable, 66, passed away Monday, Jan. 13, 2014 at his home.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam war serving in the U.S. Marines E-5 Sergeant, receiving the Presidential Unit Citation; Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal and Rifle Expert Badge.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Gable; a son, Richard and Devone Gable of South Florida; a daughter, Sue and Bob Meier of Monroe; two stepdaughters, Beth and Jathan Miller of Deland, Fla., and Jan and Dan Roush of Jonesborough, Tenn.; two brothers Roger Gable of Baraboo, Wis., and Pete Gable of Kansas; three sisters, Connie Johnson of Muskego, Wis.; Gretchen Gruber of Monroe, and Mary Moog of Baraboo; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Sturgill Funeral Home, 310 6th St. NW, Coeburn, Va. There will be no services following visitation.
