JANESVILLE - Arthur L. Fish, Jr., age 77, died Wednesday, November 19, 2008. Art was born April 8, 1931, in Reedsburg, the son of Arthur L. and Gaby E. (Wohling) Fish Sr. He married Darlene Pezall. He later married Ingrid Bartelmes. Art was a veteran, having served honorably as a member of "D" Company, Second Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division, FMF, in Korea during the period from September 1950 to April 1955. Art worked for Oscar Mayer in Madison for several years and then took over Fish Drainage and Tile Company, which was founded by his father and is now operated by his son.
Survivors include his son, Arthur L. (Donna) Fish, III, Janesville; two daughters: Terri (Dennis) Connors, Reedsburg, and Gaylynn (Eric) Whitson, Janesville; six grandchildren: Tanner and Hillary Connors, Reedsburg; Chase and Erika Whitson, Janesville; Erin Fish, Janesville; and Eric Carlson, Clinton; three stepchildren: Michael (Janet) Schwarz, Orfordville; Oliver (Sandy) Schwarz, OK; Alan Schwarz, Emerald Grove, WI; and their families; eleven siblings: Leah (Clifford) Schweppe, Prairie Du Sac, WI; Barbara (Alfred) Schneider, Columbus, WI; Dona (Stanley) Swanson, Waupan, WI; Mary Ellen (John) Voltz, Mauston, WI; Robert J. Fish, Reedsburg; Patricia G. Weldy, Loganville, WI; Gary A. Fish, Janesville; Mark L. Fish, Janesville; Vicki J. (Kenny) Martinson, Brooklyn, WI; Carla K. Fish, Loganville, WI; and Sherri L. (Scott) Handley, WA. In addition to his parents, Art was predeceased by three brothers: Lewis, Garth and Franklin Fish.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2008, at 1 p.m. in the chapel at Greenwood Cemetery in Reedsburg, WI, with Rev. Christopher Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery. A visitation will be held in Janesville at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL HOME, 1618 E. Racine St., on Saturday, November 22, 2008, from 2 to 6 p.m. Brian Hansen, (608) 752-8800, is handling arrangements.
