Parish collects used bikes for the needy

BLANCHARDVILLE - Pecatonica Lutheran Parish is gathering used but still usable bicycles and/or helmets which they will ship to towns in the Appalachian area of the United States. So when you are doing some spring cleaning of the garage or shed and find a bicycle or two that you are no longer using, or that the children have outgrown, but otherwise is still in good condition and you want to simply give it away to a worthy cause, then any Lutheran church in your area is the place to take your bike.

The Pecatonica Lutheran Parish will be collecting and gathering these bikes from now to early summer and we hope to fill a semi trailer with used but still good bicycles. The parish hopes to ship them to various towns in the Appalachian area by mid-summer.

The Pecatonica Lutheran Parish is comprised of the Blanchardville, Hollandale, Trinity and York Memorial Lutheran Churches of the Blanchardville-Hollandale area.

For more information on how and when the bicycles will be picked up, call 523-4239 or e-mail: pecparish@tds.net
