MONROE - On Saturday, Feb. 9, the Monroe High School forensics team earned the Badger South Conference title at the conference meet held at the Baraboo High School.
Monroe finished atop both the Badger North and Badger South Conferences with 185 team points. Other top teams included Baraboo (176 points), DeForest (170 points), and Verona (127 points). Twenty-nine members of the Monroe High School team competed in the meet.
The 2008 individual Badger Conference champions are: Flannery Steffens (Solo Acting- Serious), Adam Brunner (Four Minute), and Reuben Arnold (Extemporaneous). Second place finishes were achieved by Theresa Wyss (Solo Acting- Humorous), David Parr (Extemporaneous), Nick Hendrickson (Oratory), Elizabeth VanNatta (Public Address), Madeline Arnold (Storytelling), Lindsey Buehler (Prose), and the group of Katlyn Lee, Melissa Rufer, Coree Lee, and Laura Chopp (Group Interp). Haley Sinklair (Oratory) earned third place honors. Individual finalists included Elizabeth Eiseman (Poetry), Carlee Latimer (Farrago), Blake Antos (Moments in History), Clarissa Liimatainen (Moments in History), Aaron Peterson (Radio Broadcasting), and Eleanor Nesimoglu (Solo Acting- Serious).
Other students contributing points to the conference championship with solid performances were Julie Hartwig, Christina Mellenberger, Emily Kundert, Stephanie Cline, Gail LaVoie, Jennifer Buol, Taylor Weis, Patrick Gellings, and Rachel White.
The forensics team members will next compete March 3 at the Subdistrict Meet at Beloit Memorial High School.
