NEW GLARUS - The Swiss Center of North America is pleased to welcome New Glarus native Tom Kuhne to its Board of Directors. Kuhne is the CEO and owner of WSI, an Internet marketing consulting company located in Madison. Kuhne works with businesses on their Internet marketing strategies, such as search engine optimization, where he helps bring their web site to the front page of a Google search.
"With Tom's strong background in Internet marketing, we look forward to benefiting from his insights and experience," said Beth Zurbuchen, president and CEO of the Swiss Center, located in New Glarus.
Kuhne's passion for his Swiss heritage stems from his personal roots. His parents are both immigrants from Switzerland. His father, Joe, immigrated to Monroe in the mid-1950's. His mother, Margrit (Probst) came to the area in 1962 to learn the language, and decided to stay when she met and married Tom's father. His father passed away when Tom was a child, and his mother re-married Swede Erickson.
Following graduation from New Glarus High School, Kuhne received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, with a major in political science and minors in German and marketing. He also spent a year in Switzerland, working for Migros GMZ in Zurich. He lives in Madison with his wife and two sons, who along with their father, share dual citizenship with both Switzerland and the United States.
The Swiss Center of North America is devoted to celebrating, educating and showcasing the rich heritage and culture of the Swiss People. Located in New Glarus, the Swiss Center's programming will build upon existing business, cultural and political relationship.
